Marula and I

I was very fortunate to be able to walk and interact with 3 of these gorgeous and majestic creatures. It made me feel so aware of the wealth of wildlife in our country, as well as how we are all responsible for the protection of this heritage.

Looking into Marula's eyes made me think of how much depth there is to these animals, the fact that they mourn their dead, actually shedding tears for them... their ability to remember a person, even though their eyesight isn't great, their sheer greatness in size.

I hope that every generation may be able to experience these awesome creatures, and that the current generations stand up to the task of helping elephants and all of our other wild animals survive well into the future.
